The Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) Engineering Technology program received a reaffirmation from the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The program is housed in the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering Technology.
ABET accredits college and university programs in the disciplines of applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology at the associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree levels, according to its website. ECSU’s reaffirmation was based on findings that included evaluation of the institution and its overall educational unit, and individual programs. Findings were rated on the range of either compliance or non-compliance. The distinction extends through Sept. 30, 2027.
“Receiving the ABET accreditation affirms that we have met a series of standards and we are thrilled,” said Kuldeep Rawat, Ph.D., School of Science, Aviation, Health, and Technology dean. “It further establishes the high quality of our engineering technology program and assures our graduates are receiving a marketable degree through relevant curricula, and that the program provides the industry with a highly competent workforce.”
ECSU’s Engineering Technology program, established in 2007, equips students to enter professional careers in design installation operation, computer aided manufacturing robotics and automated systems. Additionally, the major’s curriculum provides for minor and concentration options including Computer Networking Engineering Technology and Robotics and Autonomous Systems Engineering Technology.
